Stonehenge monument, Wiltshire, 1991

The iconic ring of stones near Amesbury thought have been constructed between 2000 BC and 3000 BC. Since 1986 this has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Stonehenge could have been a burial site but its exact purpose is likely to remain a subject of conjecture.
