The Moffat Spitfire

This full size replica Spitfire sits in the private garden of a house in a quiet cul-de-sac of the town of Moffat. It was put there by a retired Doctor with the long term plan to leave it to the town of Moffat. Air Chief Marshal Hugh Dowding was born in the town and he was credited with masterminding the Battle of Britain in which the Spitfire played a vital role.
