Maclellan's Caslte, Kirkcudbright
Built in 1582 by Sir Thomas Maclellan with stone from the old Royal Castle and Greyfriars Convent which had stood on this site since 1449. It was built more in the style of a tower house rather than a defendable castle. The modern war memorial stands in front.
