The SS Sir Walter Scott at the Trossachs Pier, Loch Katrine
Built at Denny's in Dumbarton in 1900, she had to be brought piece at a time by barge up Loch Lomond to Inversnaid and then across land on the steep single track road to Stronachlacher where she was re-assembled. She displaces some 115 tons and still uses the original 3 cylinder triple expansion steam engine. For more than 100 years she has been taking visitors on cruises around Loch Katrine.
