Kenmure Temple, Castle Semple
This ruined building is a clear landmark for those traveling by train or road to Ayrshire past Howwood. It is a folly built by the owner of Castle Semple House around the 1730's. All that remains are the stone walls but until the 19th century it had an internal floor above a basement that was accessed via external stone steps. The windows were glazed and it had commanding views in every direction. Map location.
