Nelson's Monument, Glasgow Green
Standing 44 metres high, this obelisk, design by architect David Hamilton, was the first civic monument in the United Kingdom to celebrate the victories of Nelson.  The money to build the monument was raised by public subscription and the foundation stone was laid on 1st August 1806.
