The Type 21 Frigate Avenger pictured here at Plymouth not long before she was retired from the Royal Navy. She was built by Yarrow Shipbuilders in Glasgow and comissioned in 1978. She was a late arrival to the Falklands War but made the journey in a record 14 days averging 28 knots thanks to her Rolls Royce Olympus turbines. The line along the side of the hull was a steel plate added after cracks were found after her south atlantic deployment.
