USS Los Alamos (ADB-7), Holy Loch
Pictured in the late 1980's in Holy Loch, the floating dock was part of the permanent presence the US Navy had there from 1964 until 1992 in support of the US Polaris Missile Submarines. The dock was built in 1944 and consisted of 7 seperate modules. In 1961 4 sections were brought to Scotland. The dock was capable of lifting a Polaris Submarine completely out the water for maintenance.
