Mulberry Harbour Beetle, Garlieston Bay
One of the two 'Beetles' that remain on the rocks at Garlieston after breaking free from a tug more than 70 years ago during a storm. They were constructed from re-enforced concrete due to the lack of availability of the quantity of steel that would have otherwise been required. The concrete wall thickness is only about 1 inch on the sides and has suffered great damage over the years.
