Tolquhon Castle, Aberdeenshire
A view from the highest remaining building towards the main gate at Tolquhon Castle.  The castle was built quickly between 1584 and 1589 and incorporated as earlier 15th century tower.  It was more of a palatial residence than a defensive structure.  The gunloops are for display, their shape and size preventing their effective use.
