Loch Doon, near Dalmellington, Ayrshire
If you look close you'll see two of Scotland's gaurdians in this picture, midges, they say if you kill 1 then 1000 come to its funeral. Loch Doon was chosen in 1917 to host an Aerial Gunnery school, after wasting a great deal of money the idea was abandoned due to the rather common unsuitable flying weather and also the fact you can't really build an airfield on a bog, needless to say the locals told them that before they started.
