Explosives handling jetty, RNAD Coulport
This floating dock was built to enable the Royal Navy Trident submarines to be armed.  The raised roof covers the missile compartment allowing cranes to lift missiles in and out of the boats under cover and in secrecy.  It was built at Hunterston and floated the few miles to its present location.  The total weight of the structure is around 100,000 tons.
