Rear view of Hamilton Mausoleum
Built in 1842 by the 10th Duke of Hamilton, it took 15 years to complete and has been described as an extraordinary work of sculpture rather than a building. The centre arch is the entrance to the Crypt. The entire upper structure was intended as chapel but was never used as such.
