Otter Ferry, Loch Fyne
Otter ferry is not named after an animal but in fact takes it name from the Gaeilic word Oitir. This refers to the sandbank you see here which extends about a mile into Loch Fyne. For over 200 years people, horses and cattle were transported across the waters of Loch Fyne here. The village of Otter Ferry grew as a result of this crossing.
