The Connel Bridge
When opened in 1903 this Railway Bridge had a wider span (152m)than any other bridge in the UK except the Forth Rail Bridge. It was built for the Callander and Oban Railway. In 1913 the bridge was also used for cars when there no trains running. WHen the line closed in 1966 the bridge was solely used for vehicular transport although it is only wide enough for one way at a time with traffic lights at either end.
