Hunterston Ore Terminal
Built in the 1970's by British Steel and now owned by the Clyde Port Authority. It is one of the deepest ore terminals in western europe capable of handling ships up 350,000 dwt with a depth of 26m of water at the berths. The plan was to build an integrated steel works here but the downturn in the market in the 1980's meant that part of the plan never happened.
