Glanderston Dam viewed from the top of the Craigie
This seems like a tranquil view even on a cold winter day but on the night of 30th December, 1842, Glanderston Dam burst its bank and flooded down the valley to the printworks it then supplied killing eight members of one family. Neilston can be seen in the gap in the trees near the centre. Map location
