Defence in Depth, Fort George
On the left is the principal Bridge which leads to the Ravelin. This is a self contained platfrom that can fire over the cover way. To the right are firing platfroms in the covered way for defenders and in front of them the Glacis, a gradual slope that attackers would have to cross. The principal ditch has stairs to allow defenders to cross to firing positions without being exposed to fire.
