Tummel Bridge, River Tummel
Built in 1733, it is steeply arched and narrow, typical of the bridges made by General Wade at the time of the construction of the military roads. They came about as a result of the Jacobite uprising of 1715. Wade's successor, William Caulfield, was famously quoted as saying, 'If you'd seen these roads before they were made, you'd lift up your arms and bless General Wade'.
