Camster Long Cairn, entrance
The entrance to one of the two unconnected chambers in the Long Cairn at Camster. Human and animal bones were found in the chambers during excavations. There is some controversy over a restoration that was carried out in the early 80's. Some dispute that the dry stone walls you see here wouldn't have been so long and also that the whole structure might have been higher. Since there are no written records from that time its unlikely we will ever know.
