Port Dundas, Glasgow
Port Dundas was developed around 1790 and was named after Sir Lawrence Dundas, a backer of the Forth & Clyde Canal Company. The area declined in the 1960's until the last straw was the construction of the M8 Motorway obstructing access to the canal basin. Since then though a great deal of money has been investing in restoring the canal and converting these old warehouses into flats. A correction. This is not Port Dundas, it is Spiers Wharf. Port Dundas is some 1/4 milr away beyond the new section mentioned in the text.
