Mulberry Harbour 'Beetle' , Garlieston, Dumfries and Galloway
During World War II Garlieston was one of the sites where parts of the Mulberry Harbour used for the D-Day invasion were assembled and tested. This is one of two 'beetles' that remain on the beach at Garlieston Bay. Several were being towed by a tug in poor weather when they broke free and ended up on the rocks where they have remained for 70 years.
