Underneath the Kessock Bridge
The Kessock Bridge was open in 1982 to carry the main A9 north, cutting many miles off the journey. The cable stay bridge crosses the Beauly Firth with a centre span of 240m. Due to its very close proximity to the Great Glen Fault line the construction included seismic buffers in the north abutment which lies very close to the fault.
