Grave of William the Lion, Arbroath Abbey
William "The Lion" was King of Scots between 1165 and 1214. A somewhat reckless character who ended up being captured by the English at the Battle of Alnwick. The term Lion came from his flag, a red Lion on a yellow background, a version of this later went on to become the Royal Banner of Scotland and is still used today.
