In 1913 RAF Montrose became the first operational military Aerodrome in the UK and remained in service under varies roles until 1952. In 1983 the Montrose Air Station Heritage Centre was formed and located on the former airfield, not an industrial estate. Many of the early buildings still stand within the estate. The Radar seen here is a Decca 424 Airfield control Radar and the one see here was transportable.
