At first glance this stone building with its typical east coast red tile roof seems innocent enough. However, underneath this shell lies a re-inforced concrete entrance to a large underground bunker built in the early 1950's by the RAF as part of the ROTOR radar system. By 1958 ROTOR was obsolete and the bunker became a regional seat of Goverment that would be manned by civil defence staff in the event of a Nuclear attack on the UK. Today this cold war relic is open to the public as a museum.
