RFA Fort Victoria at DM Crombie as seen from Blackness, River Forth
DM Crombie was opened in 1916 to supply what was Rosyth Naval Dockyard a few miles down river. RFA Victoria is combined fleet stores ship and was launched at Harland & Wolff in Belfast in 1990. While she was still in dock being fitted out a bomb planeted by the IRA detonated in the engine room causing the ship to be holed and flooded. The ship was only saved from sinking after a great effort by the emergency services and shipyard workers. For this reason it was until 1994 that she entered service.
