Dun Telve Broch, near Glenelg
This is the best example of a Broch on mainland Scotland, built as a fortified homestead by Iron Age farmers some 2000 years ago. This view shows the low entrance , the remaining wall rises to around 10m and uses a double skin design which makes it very strong. The internal layout of these Brochs is much debated but it is thought it would have had several wooden floors with a thatched roof.
