Airthrey Estate dates from the 14th century. In 1791 Robert Haldane commissioned Robert Adam to build the basis of the house we see here, it was later added to between 1889-91. During WWII it became a maternity hospital and today it forms part of Stirling Universtity which was opened in 1967. Map location.
