The kilted soldier is a war memorial to soldiers of the Argyle & Sutherland Highlanders who lost their lives in the Boer war of 1899 to 1902.  The distant figure is that of Robert the Bruce and on the hill that is the Wallace Monument to commemorate William Wallace.
