Standing Stone at Finlaggan, Islay
The Finlaggan Standing stone is thought to pre-date the much later settlement that can be seen on the Island in the background. An excavation and geophysical scan in 1994 revealed that it does not stand in isolation and may have been part of a larger monument. Astronomical alignements have also been suggested.
