A view of the old military road from the car park at the "Rest & Be thankful" It was built as a result of the Jacobite uprisings of 1715 and 1719 and completed in 1749. Nearly 250 years later it is back in use as a diversion route in the event of land slides blocking its 'modern' replacement. The road disappears here to the left in a steep corkscrew and can be seen lower down in the Glen with the modern road above.
