Today this site is a housing development but for 50 years it was home to a large Ballroom, a Cafe and also a Restaurant run by the Castelvecchi family. Since the old building was such a landmark and in such a prominent position in Largs its replacement was designed to look similar with the corner appearing like the Bow of a Ship.
