Air Sea Rescue-10, Scottish Maritime Museum, Irvine

ASR-10 is a rare example of a craft that was stationed in the North Sea and English Channel during World War II. Its role was to provide a safe refuge for downed RAF crews. It had 6 bunks and vital equipment, food and books along with radio equipment to call for help. The ladder on the side is to allow easy access from the sea. It is thought that after the war it was used as a naval target on the Clyde before being abandoned on the slipway at Battery Park in Greenock.
