The ruins of Lochmaben Castle
So much of the stone has been robbed over the years that its difficult to imagine what the Castle would have looked like when it was built by the English in the 14th century. The castle was extensively rebuilt dueing the reign of James IV (1488-1513) but mostly dismantled after its capture by James VI in 1588. The castle is in the care of Historic Scotland.
