Queen Mary is seen here after her return to the Clyde in early 2016 for the first time since 1981. Built at William Denny shipyard in Dumbarton and launched in 1933 as TS Queen Mary. She was built as a Clyde Steamer and could carry just over 2000 passengers. In 1935 Cunard approached the operator to ask if they would allow them to use the name on their new Liner which was to be launched by Queen Mary. So Queen Mary became TS Queen Mary II and the liner became RMS Queen Mary.
