The inner harbour, Girvan
Girvan has had a harbor for a long time, this wooden part is a more recent addition. Next to the white building on the right there was a coal port. In 1847 the harbor supported 34 fishing boats and 90 fishermen. Between 1869-70 the harbor was rebuilt and again extended in 1881-3. One modern addition on the left is the building that looks a bit like a lighthouse, it is in fact a sewerage treatment plant.
