Timber ponds, Findlaystone Point
The posts sticking out the water are what remains of timber ponds that were used from the early 18th century until the 19th century to store timber imported from North America before it was sold on to the ship yards on the Clyde. They stretch along the shore for a couple of miles at Finlaystone Point. Map location.
