The QE2 makes its last visit to its birthplace, the River Clyde. Launched in 1967 it was designed for high speed transatlantic crossings at a service speed of 28.5 knots. She originally had two steam turbines but these replaced in 1986 with diesel engines and at the same time some of the upper cabins with balconies were added. The most obvious outward change was the funnel which lost its tall slender look.
