One O'clock Gun, Edinburgh Castle
Since 1861 a gun has been fired at 1pm Monday to Saturday from the ramparts of Edinburgh Castle.  It has now become a tourist attraction but its original  purpose was to give ships at Leith harbours 2 miles away an accurate time.  One of the modern artilary guns seen here are used today.
