Mavisbank House, Loanhead, 2009

The rain on the lens only makes this view even more depressing. Probably Scotland's most important piece of Georgian Architecture in a state of utter decay. Built between 1723 and 1727 it is the earliest example of a Palladian style house in Scotland. Its last owner took little interest in its fate was sealed when it was gutted by fire. Today the grounds are in the hands of Historic Scotland and they have agreed to stablise the building, but this is only a temporary solution, its future remains in doubt
