Sea Vampire, Montrose Air Station Heritage Centre

The Vampire was a single engine Jet aircraft developed by De Havilland during the war. It had an unusual double tail which can just be seen in this photo. It was constructed from plywood and aluminium. In 1945 a Vampire was the first Jet ever to land and take off from the deck of an Aircraft Carrier.
