ruins of Dovecothall Mill, Barrhead
The Dovecothall Mill was the first Cotton mill on the Levern, built by a Lancashire company in 1780. A much larger Mill, the Levern Mill was built in 1798 by the Dunlops. It was on the opposite bank of the river but was completely demolished in 1969 due to it being unsafe. The ruins of the Dovecothall Mill are almost completely obscured from view by trees today.
