Ayr Town Hall, Ayr

Work on the 'new' Ayr town hall was started in 1827 to the plans of Thomas Hamilton of Edinburgh. The steeple rises to some 225ft and was struck by lightening in 1836 causing some stone blocks to be thrown to the ground. The total cost of the building was 10,000. Map location.
