The national Burn's Memorial Tower, Mauchline
To mark the 100th anniversary of the death of Robert Burns, Mauchlin was chosen to have a National Burns Monument.  The foundation stone was laid in 23rd July 1896, a day marked as a public holiday in Mauchlin.  It was opened on 7th May and for almost a century housed artifacts associated with Burns.
