Boeing AH-64 Apache Helicopter
First developed and flown by Hughes Helicopters in 1975.  It was designed as a ground attack helicopter with a 30mm canon and other missiles and rockets, it was also designed to have a high survivability under fire.  McDonnell Douglas bought Hughes and they continued with the production with it entering service in 1986.  Today Boeing is still producing them with over 2400 manufactured.
