Avro Vulcan XM597, Museum of Flight, East Fortune, 2017
The Vulcan B2 was strategic nuclear bomber designed in the 1950's. This particular example dates from 1963 and is one of only two of the Vulcan fleet that saw action. It was involved in the bombing of Port Stanley Airport during the 1982 Falklands war. But on one of those missions XM597 was forced to divert to Brazil due to a broken refueling probe. It was held there until the end of the conflict.
