St John's Tower, Ayr

The tower is all that remains of the CHurch of St John possibly dating fronm the 14th century. Robert the Bruce attended a meeting of the Scottish Parliament held here in 1315 after Bannockburn. The church was demolished by the town council in 1726 and Lord Bute restored the ruined tower in 1914. Map location.
