First flown in 1982 the An124 was designed as a heavy lift military transport aircraft for the Soviet Union. It is capable of carrying up to 120 tons of cargo. There are over 20 of these in civilian use as cargo aircraft with the Russian Airline Volga Dnepr being the largest operator. Its not an uncommon visitor to Prestwick Airport.
