St Enoch square was originally created in 1783 for grazing sheep. In 1876 St Enoch Railway station was built but was demolished and replaced by the St Enoch Centre shopping centre in the mid 1980's The building pictured here was the St Enoch subway station, built in 1896. The most remarkable thing about this building is that it was saved at great expense whilst the Subway station below was reconstructed in the late 1970's. The entrance to the modern station is now behind the green box.
